Dreaming with Courage: A Yoga Nidra Experience

This workshop centers the importance of rest and meditation, offering space for our most creative selves.

In a world that constantly asks us to keep going, let’s choose to pause, breathe, and tap into the deep wisdom our bodies hold. Through yoga Nidrā, you’ll have the space to release, restore, and reclaim your energy. Daydreams and dreams in deep rest provide a state of consciousness that holds a sweet spot for creativity and much more.

In this experience, there will be a 30 minute Nidrā focusing on the word, courage. Gentle inquiries like: "What makes you feel courageous?", will be offered. Following the Nidrā, there will be a creative expression session where participants are invited to capture their feelings, dreams, and insights on courage, from the Nidra. Writing, painting, drawing, and/or doodling are all welcome.

WHAT TO EXPECT 🤲🏽

The restorative practice, yoga Nidrā, often called ‘yogic sleep’, invites you into a space between wakefulness and sleep. This holds potential for deep healing, creativity, and much more.

There will be time for hellos and creating a comfortable rest space that fits everyone’s needs.

WHAT TO BRING 📒🎨

Eaton Wellness has all the things when it comes to props. If you prefer to bring your own mat, pillow, eye mask and blanket, all are welcome. Also, consider some of the following: water, writing journal + pen(cil), tarot/oracle cards, crystals, watercolors, and anything else that calls you.

About the Facilitator:

Alyssa is an educator and yoga Nidrā facilitator. She was introduced to yoga Nidrā during a full moon circle at Eaton DC in 2019. That experience of deep relaxation set the tone for providing herself and others with the restorative benefits of Nidrā. She became a certified teacher and facilitator in May 2022.

She believes yoga Nidrā is more than a rest practice, it's a portal to limitless paths of exploration. It integrates body, mind, and spirit to arrive at deeper levels of relaxation and inner awareness. Most importantly, it's a way to reclaim the rest we deserve. It's her desire for others to be replenished, to experience themselves in ease through a restorative yoga practice. Alyssa's offering, Roots of Rest, centers QTPOC, BBIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ folks with the sleep and healing benefits of yoga Nidrā.
